Conservation and Demand Agency (CODEA) is a non-governmental organization incorporated in Uganda as a company limited by guarantee, dedicated to empowering communities around the world to achieve sustainable development. Guided by its vision of a self-sustaining society, CODEA works to promote lasting solutions that enhance community resilience, self-reliance, and inclusive growth. Since 2010, CODEA has implemented initiatives in skills development, climate change adaptation, sustainable catchment management, tree growing, climate-smart agriculture, clean renewable energy, entrepreneurship development, and community health improvement.
The organization is driven by a dynamic team of 644 professionals, volunteers, and support staff with expertise in social sciences, agronomy, environment, and finance. CODEA operates from its Head Office in Kasese and a National Liaison Office in Kireka–Kampala, working with over 9,641 households —mostly coffee, cocoa, and Matoke farmers—organized in 377 farmer groups, alongside select youth entrepreneurs across Kasese, Bunyangabu, Ntoroko, Bundibugyo, Hoima, Kyenjojo, and Kamwenge districts. The organization has worked with a network of 7 Local implementing partners and 53 community self-help groups (VSLAs, Labor gangs, business groups).
